Fsh Blood Test Fertility
TTC # 2 high FSH level – 22?
I'm 30 and have been ttc # 2 since Feb. 8. I had my first son in October 06 after ttc for 1 year. I just came back from the fertility specialist with results that tells me is not good. My FSH was 22. At the same time my prolactin was 10 ug / L and luteinising was 17 U / l. My cycles can range anywhere between 30 – 40ish days but going through a phase where it was 45 to 60 for about 6-7 months. The specialist said that my chances are slim design to say the best and said my fsh to 22, it's like I'm almost goes to the menopause. He sent me for another blood test to ensure results were correct. Does anyone have advice or have been in a similar situation who can give me some hope? My last AF was June 19 Blood work was done on June 30 Thank you.
Hello there, I had blood tests that premature ovarian failure (early menopause) women running through my line and I am inclusive, and while only 28 my body is physiologically closer to that of a woman of 34/35 years. I remember reading the results of FSH and LH before I had my results back and yes 22 for FSH and suggests what is called peri-menopause as something over 13 is not good because they are very difficult to stimulate. That said, there are medications you can take and you probably have several years of fertility left all is not lost yet, but I'd say you do not waste time and IVF as soon as you can if they can harvest enough eggs for that. You are always in the game does give hope. Its just going to be very hard, that's all. IVF is an emotional thing and you'll need lots of support around you, but if you really want another baby, it is worth considering, but remember, after five attempts at IVF, the chances of you and then have become pregnant very very low so personally I would not have more than that. Fortunately you do not wait until you have your first child that many women do (including myself) and something you regret when fertility becomes an issue. I feel for you I do what I know I am called to menopause have myself in the next few years.
